March 23, 2011 • Off-Campus Event [img_assist|nid=5001|title=|desc=Our seminary Men's Choir, with Chancellor Archpriest Chad Hatfield (far right).|link=none|align=right|width=300|height=179] On Wednesday, March 23, at 6:30 p.m., our seminary Men's Choir will be singing the responses to the Presanctified Liturgy at the Church of Our Saviour Greek Orthodox Church in Rye, New York. The Men's Choir, led by Hierodeacon Philip Majkrzak, is versed in several styles of traditional church music, including Byzantine chant. The Rev. Fr. Elias G. Villas, rector of the parish, will preside at the liturgy, and a lenten repast will be held following the service.
Our faculty will be delivering several retreats and homilies throughout North America during this season of Great Lent. Dr. Paul Nadim Tarazi. The service, which marks the 41st annual gathering for this occasion, will be celebrated at 6 p.m. at the Virgin Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church , 236 Grandview Blvd., Yonkers, NY. Our seminary Men's Choir will sing portions of the service.

[img_assist|nid=5405|title=|desc=Protodeacon Nazari Polataiko teaching his iconography workshop.|link=none|align=left|width=200|height=166]Protodeacon Nazari Polataiko will instruct aspiring and experienced iconographers in the egg tempera Russo-Byzantine style of iconography, endeavoring to teach not only craft and technique but also the prayerful attitude required in executing this art. Protodeacon Nazari Polataiko and his wife, Matushka Tatiana, established the Saints Alypij and Andrew Rublew Icon Studio in 1996. The icon painters of the studio are dedicated to reviving this ancient art. The Polataikos were born in Chernivtsi, Ukraine and both graduated with B.F.A degrees: Fr. Nazari from Kosiv and Matushka from Vyznytcia Art College in Ukraine.
