In 1727, J. S. Bach drew church congregations into the drama of Christ’s suffering and death through his monumental composition, the St. Mat thew Passion. Today, Russian Orthodox Christian composer and churchman Metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev is offering the post-modern world a corresponding experience with his fresh and original St. Matthew Passion , a profound piece of sacred concert music that combines Gospel narrative with liturgical texts of the Orthodox Church.

Metropolitan Hilarion to Deliver 28th Annual Schmemann Lecture

This coming year's presenter of the 28th annual Father Alexander Schmemann Memorial Lecture is His Eminence Hilarion, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Affairs. His Eminence has chosen "The Meaning of 'Icon' in the Orthodox Church" as his topic, and he will deliver the free and public lecture on Saturday afternoon at 3:30, February 5, 2011, in the Metropolitan Philip Auditorium of the John G. Rangos Family Foundation Building on our campus. A public reception will follow and the All-Night Vigil will be celebrated at the usual time of 6:30 p.m., with Metropolitan Hilarion presiding.

Men's Choir Travels to PA Parishes

The group will be conducted by Hierodeacon Philip Majkrzak, our Chapel Choir Director, and accompanied by our Chancellor, Archpriest Chad Hatifeld.

June 7–8 : Missiology and Evangelism Workshop In an effort to reach two indigenous and rapidly growing North American populations with the message of Orthodox Christianity, our two-day workshop on missiology and evangelism will focus on outreach to people of African heritage and Spanish-speaking cultures in the U.S. and Canada. Workshop leaders will be Fr. Moses Berry of St. Louis, Missouri, and Fr. Antonio Perdomo of Pharr, Texas, two experienced "evangelists."

His Beatitude Krystof to Receive Honorary Doctorate during Visit

On Monday, February 28th at 5 p.m., His Beatitude, Metropolitan Krystof, primate of the Orthodox Church in the Czech Lands and Slovakia, will receive an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree at an Academic Convocation held in his honor on our campus. His Beatitude will deliver an address to the seminary community during the [img_assist|nid=4944|title=|desc=His Beatitude Krystof, primate of Czech Lands and Slovakia|link=none|align=left|width=200|height=198]cermonious occasion. The convocation, which is open to the public, will be held in the Metropolitan Philip Auditorium of the John G. Rangos Family Building.
