Dr Rossitza B. Schroeder

CV

Rossitza Schroeder is a medieval art historian with interests in late Byzantine art, cross-cultural interactions, medieval and early Renaissance portraiture, and heritage studies. She has published on Veneto-Byzantine-Ottoman exchange as reflected in Gentile Bellini’s portrait of Mehmed the Conqueror, as well as on the relationship between monastic practice and the visual arts in Palaeologan churches in Constantinople, Mount Athos, Ochrid, and Thessaloniki. At present she is working on the ways in which the members of the ruling dynasty of the third Bulgarian kingdom utilized the visual heritage of Byzantium and her commonwealth in their visual representations.
