On Sunday, July 28, 2018, SVOTS Alumnus Dn. Gregory Erik Potter was ordained to the Holy Priesthood. Fr. Gregory was ordained by the hand of His Grace Alexander, bishop of Ottawa, Eastern Canada, and Upstate New York of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. The ordination took place at St. George Orthodox Church in South Glens Falls, NY.
Fr. Gregory graduated at St. Vladimir’s Seminary with a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degree in 2018 with a commendation for service to the community. Fr. Gregory and his wife, Matushka Faith, recently returned from an OCMC mission trip to Uganda following graduation along with other SVOTS graduates, seminarians, and community members. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Near Eastern and Judaic Studies from Brandeis University. Fr. Gregory was received into the Orthodox Church shortly after his undergraduate studies. Before attending SVOTS, he chanted and taught Sunday school for several years at his home parish of St. George Orthodox Church, Norwood, MA.
Fr. Gregory has been assigned to serve at St. George Orthodox Church in South Glens Falls.
